I started off this site with some specific goals in place. One of those goals included developing a Windows 8 application. Well, in order to do that, you need – among other things – Windows 8 installed. I’m happy to report that I am now the proud owner of Windows 8!
Installation of the new operating system was the easiest upgrade I’ve done. I’ve installed XP several times, Vista once, and Windows 7 a few times. I purchased the license from Purdue, clicked the download link, and let it do its thing!
I haven’t gotten to play around with it much, but I love the UI. It’s unfortunate that it is on my desktop and therefore has no touch scree; however, depending on how my development goes, I might splurge and purchase a Windows Surface Pro. I’m currently loaded down with projects and life at the moment, so I don’t think I’ll be starting to develop an app until at least May, but I’m excited to begin the process!
Probably one of the most exciting things to report is that my start up time for my computer went from about 6-10 minutes to 40 seconds. In addition to the new operating system, I grabbed a 240GB SSD card as well. It’s like having a new computer again. My Windows Experience rating caps out at 7.3. I can deal with that.
